About Me
I tend to use acrylic and mixed media in most of my paintings. I have experimented a little with different mediums but mostly use acrylic paint. My particular style of painting consists of a smooth but blurry looking surface with a contrasting textured foreground of colour using another layer of acrylic paint and mixed media. I am very fond of texture in painting and wish to experiment more with it in future works. I’ve always been a keen painter and I’ve had my father to look up to as he is an artist himself. If you would like to see my father's work please visit: www.ericjobbinsportraits.com. Other artists that I look up to are Bridget Riley, Sir Terry Frost, John Hoyland, Monet, Seurat and many more. I am extremely passionate about (and highly influenced by) texture and colour which are both visibly portrayed in my work. I find traveling quite an inspiration too and hope to do more of it in the future. I recently spent some time in New Zealand visiting friends. The country is truly breath-taking and the people are very hospitable. I really felt at home there. I was also very intrigued with Maori symbology and paura shell. I hope to use them in future paintings. I am currently working on a few pieces to add to the web gallery. In the meantime I hope you enjoy the current paintings displayed.
